The Smiling Martyr

Evening Edition VOLUME XXVI January 6th, 2001

Suffer not a Bane
by Shadow
Saturday evening, it was business as usual. Prince Recoil had called opening court. The uncertainty hung like a maisma of unspoken thoughts, worries, and hopes. Tonight, the killings stop. Tonight, we save our Seneschal, Tonight, we rid the city of this BANE! It was business as usual. Recoil was finally able to assemble a team to take this thing on after a few setbacks. Each clan was represented. All ready for the ride of their unlives to meet an uncertain fate. Those gathered were ready for anything. The portal opened. The brave party stepped into their destiny. The Elysium walls were alive with the dark entity. There was a location that there was more of a concentration of corruption. Misery gave Recoil one of her "babies" (a grenade). Using his mighty speed and strength Recoil launched the grenade into the concentrated area at the speed of a bullet. Egad had used a grenade at about the same time. The explosion decimated the concentration on the wall splattering everyone with a red "goo". Everyone quickly went for the remaining walls as the entity seemed to fade. Or so everyone had thought. In the corner, there stood the Seneschal, Jonothan Smith. Black oily tentacles protruded from every orifice his skin looking more paper white than the pale of a kindred. The group had turned with hope in their eyes of saving this martyr from the fate all martyrs suffer. After a close inspection, Egad announced, "He's gone. There's nothing left". Recoil was in the lead. The thing had pointed at Recoil who was poised with blade ready to strike. This reporter could swear he almost heard the word, "Please...". Recoil dropped his blade, unable to strike killing blows on his long term friend. The others realized this was not the Seneschal and proceeded to strike. One mysterious person holding a klaive dusted the Seneschal, putting him to sleep. Egad and one of the Gangrel dug into the thing with feral talons bringing it to almost death when it awoke. Another strike from Egad and it was finished. A starfish-like creature was all that was left. Egad, the Gangrel, and the mysterious woman had struck all at once. The mysterious woman had impaled Egad and the Gangrels feet as she stabbed and they stomped. It was over. But at what cost? A valued member of Sacramento's kindred society has met the final death. The city has lost a trusted friend, comerade, and Seneschal. Recoil mourned the loss of his friend as well as the others. This can come to show that kindred can mourn. Kindred can have friends. Jonothan will be missed. Farewell dear friend and martyr, we'll miss you.

Cabinet Comes Together
by Les B. Inn
It seemed that we lack city officials until Prince Recoil filled the open positions. We now have a new Seneschal and Sheriff. Filling the position of Seneschal well be Father Natasha of Clan Nosferatu, while Egad claimed by Clan Brujah will be Sacramento's new sheriff. Egad will be taking the position previously held by Father Natasha. The cities loyalties seem to be behind that of Egad, but Father Natasha has been part of many rumors. With this powerful cabinet the city of Sacramento will be one to mess with.

Ritual de la Habitual
by Janes A. Dickshun
As a ring leader to the circus that we call the Tremere Clan, Feather merely kept the tradition of Sacramento Tremere in tact. The tradition of failure. If you can even call it that. A group of Tremere decided to perform a ritual in the back of the Elysium, near the Soze Wing, where the Primogen meet. A ritual that was unauthorized by the Prince. Not only that, but a group of twenty mortals, The Radinov Family and Henchmen, were also involved in this as they walked right through our very Elyisum. Keeper Morgan Powell was no where to be found, as these "normals" walked right into our safe haven. Why? Because the Tremere felt that a besmirged Russian Mafia Family, was more important than the safety of all other Kindred that reside in Sacramento. I smell breach, hopefully the Prince will as well.

Dark Moonshine
by Uncle Jesse
A dark family entered the city on Saturday. The Watleys. Armed with an international peace jug of Moonshine, this family came to our city seeking hospitality from our very Prince. The Watley's arrived in town and met with our Scourge, Xavier, and offered him a swig of the southern Moonshine he'd brought. Xavier, in utter disrespect, dumped the moonshine at the feet of Mr. Watley. Watley's pappy was right, there is no hospitality like the South. Well Mr. Watley, in total awe...dropped the cigar right out of his mouth. The Moonshine on the ground ignites, and a little blue flame trickled along the top of the asphalt. Xavier, began yelling and slashing at the Watley's, slicing the Watley girl across the shoulder, a spark of fatherly instincts caused Mr. Watley to defend his girl. A small fisticuf ensued inside of another globe of darkness put up by Xavier in the middle of a lit street in front of a crowd. Again. Xavier was easily distracted from the attack, and the Watley's vanished into the crowd to saftey.

KINDRED QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Clan unity for the sake of clan unity is not always the best course. -Falstaff Jennings

Sacramento Shadow
Here is an artist rendering of what the group of Kindred that entered the Umbra during the Tremere Ritual, encountered when they came across Happi, the former seneschal. Did he suffer? For his soul, I hope not.

Weather Phenomenon
by Stormin Norman
Hold on to your hats ladies and gentleman...an unknown, freak windstorm kicked up in the Valley on Saturday night. Gusts up to 52 miles per hour were recorded starting around seven o'clock. Sacramento Meteorologists are still baffled as to the cause of this weather. A Rio Linda boy was almost swept away by these winds had his father not dropped his beer and chew cup, to help him out. And in downtown Sacramento, a window washing rig broke free of it's anchor and swung down into the side of the building causing approximately $250,000 worth of damage.

The Crying Game
by R. Tiste
It was the speech of his unlife. The Teflon Tenor took center stage and spoke to the city. The Mighty Warrior of Good, opposed on all sides by dangerous foes, stood his ground and did not waiver. He spoke of justice, conscience, and freedom. And the city listened. And they watched Falstaff Jennings—charming, elegant, dignified, and handsome beyond description. And they were moved by his eloquence in defense of justice. And then, almost as one, the city wept. They wept for they had seen the gentle Maestro, a Toreador’s Toreador, demonstrate how a civilized gentleman, in the face of overwhelming odds, conducts himself. And even the great Brujah Prince Recoil, hardened by years of dealing death to the enemies of the Camarilla, could not help it as the tears welled in his eyes, so moved was he by Falstaff’s courage. And a blow was struck in Sacramento on behalf of gentlemanly conduct and civilized behavior and against barbarism and hooliganism. The next night Falstaff, putting aside his opera cape and being a good sport, was seen entertaining some of his media tycoon friends at a swank karaoke bar. He drank a whisky drink and then a vodka drink. And then he sang. And the crowd was entranced. "I get knocked down, but I get up again, you’re never going keep me down, I get knocked down, but I get up again…"

Feather Fall
by Corrupted by Flames
The newest attack by the Radinovs on the city occured when they approached the newest additon to the Tremere clan...their newest chantry which was located in Feathers Haven. The building in downtown was burned to cinders as many of the members of the clan barely escaped with their unlives. The clan later worked with the Radinov family to help with a ritual. The Tremere clan has not shown the intelligence as a whole with or without Feather's being present.

A Funeral for a Friend
by Darwin Lives
Saturday night saw the death of a good friend and a good seneschal. Jonathon Smith/Happi Goluki died as a result of the bane that inhabited his body. Jonathon took the bane into his body in order to save both the city and the Prince, Recoil. This was the same bane that had inhabited the former Prince, Winston Kobeyashi. This bane was summoned by Winston using a Fomori ritual in an attempt to keep the Garou from being able to come into the Elysium from the Umbra. The bane was destroyed by eventually by several kindred who opened a gate to the umbra and were able to enter with all of their disciplines working. One of the kindred present was Delilah Alexander of Clan Lasombra who has been absent from our fair city for some time. She surprisingly brought a silver grand klaive which she used to help kill the bane by stabbing it. After the group returned to the elysium and the gate was shut, she was heard to ask the Prince if she could perform a cleansing ritual on the Elysium. I didn't know the LaSombra had that ability. The end result is that the bane is gone but so is our beloved Seneschal. Jonathon you were long winded at times but you will be missed all the same. May death give you a long deserved final rest.

The Numbers Grow...
by The Count
Oh how I love to count. 1 2 3. Counting is fun. For you and me. Remember to respect others labors. And be sure to count your neighbors. One time or populace was small, but now we can fill up a hall. 1...2...3...4...5...Yippee.

Trippyman Coming Soon
by Ich Bein Ein Trippenstein
The Trippyman website will be completed soon. As soon as we find Trippyman...we lost him at a rave down in San Francisco, last we heard he was back on his way up this direction, but soon as he shows up at his bungalow, we'll be ready. Peace.
