A Big Piece of the Puzzle
Evening Edition VOLUME 42 May 12th, 2001
Kamian/Crane Connection
by --Silent One--
As if the actions and loses from the past few months were not enough of a blow to the city of Sacramento, Saturdays gather brought upon another lose. The death of Mr. Soze was hard felt and the investigation of this vile act was in the top ten of Feared Prince Recoils to do list. A city still in mourning over his lose, and the sudden destruction of so many other just last week brought the city to a stand still for a moment. It was reveled last week that Mr.. Crane of the Ventrue clan had his hand in the destruction of Mr. Soze. Being smart about he was not as he confessed to the cities Harpy Dot/Kate. As if his actions of this was not enough, he went to step on the toes of Barbara Moore of clan Gangrel with the taking and embracing of her ghoul Tish. After hearing all information upon both matters, Prince Recoil brought down once again his "take no shit" policy and proclaimed that Mr.. Crane shall be brought to final death. A small group, including the Ventrue Primogen, were there to stand in watch over the death. Once source stated it was quickly over. This should remind all of us out there that as harsh as our Prince can be it is the city and the ones who dwell within that make it so he has to rule with such an iron hand.

Gilroy was Here
by Jimmy Dugan, Ace Reporter (API)
This investigative reporter is in possession of several video tapes recorded by participants in last night's deadly riot at "The Frozen Rose", and adult nightclub in Sacramento. The most chilling part of the video depicts the brutal murder of a dozen helpless victims by the Sacramento Militia. Their names are being withheld because they are all minors! One lucky soul, who is so far unidentified, took no less then five separate shotgun blasts, the got up and ran away! In another portion of the tape, two dark figures were seen fleeing the scene at the beginning of the skirmish. One wore a ski mask, the other has been tentatively unidentified. While the masked man kept his cool and retreated, the other man seemed to be in a bit of a hurry to leave the area covering his face as he ran. Interestingly, several eyewitness descriptions of the pair contradict what is on camera. For example, no one remembers a man wearing a ski mask, and a few men actually claim that the other man was changing shape as he ran away! About fifty Militia members were arrested, and dozens more held for questioning. Most agree that they were hunting "Vampires", even insisting that there poor, innocent victims were in fact blood-sucking monsters. Their preparation corroborates their belief, most members had crosses or Bibles, some had silver or holy water, all had garlic and wooden stakes. In this reporter's opinion, the Sacramento "Militia" is an unruly mob, made up of dangerous lunatics. Remember when they said Sacramento was infested with ghosts? What will these vigilantes think of next, werewolves?

Crane Executed for Soze Murder
by Malk Lingerer
The city saw justice done this week when Theodore Crane was led into his last Primogen meeting by the keeper and sheriff and, after extensive questioning, executed. Crane did not deny the charges, but bowed deeply to his former friend, Katherine Sommers, when she reminded him to "Never confess to a Harpy". Sommers, when questioned later by this reporter, replied "no comment" to allegations that she had refused to act in the matter until Crane allegedly embraced a ghoul owned by Barbara Moore, the Gangrel primogen.

Rumors Flying of a Prophecy as Chief Harpy Retires
by Basho
In the wake of a number of recent incidents involving Harpy Katherine Sommers and Gangrel Voice Yoshiro Tanaka, the Toreador Clan has been abuzz with rumors that Sommers will be stepping down in favor of another of its members after the death of John Masters. "We are not political people," Tanaka said in a personal interview. "We are teachers. It is time that Katherine return to her work." Sommers agreed, and said that she will name her candidate for the position at opening court Saturday. "I am the Word," she said. "And the Diamond Path is my primary concern. All else -- status, fear, the hunger for power -- is distraction from that Path."

Possession is Nine-Tenths of the Dot
by Lou Zenitt
A dark moment occured on Saturday night when Dot Warner, in a tyrade, went after our Prince Recoil with force. In a very unfamiliar italian accent, Dot proceeded to slander and insult the Prince while attempting to attack him. The Prince laughed at first, but then seemed to recognize the accent and the voice...it seems as though Dot had been possessed by a one Arturo Gaggero. Gaggero and Recoil have had a history in the past. Many speculate that their connection was in the world of drug running and racketeering control of the streets. Dot was quickly subdued and the spirit left her. Recoil left the scene and was not seen until later that night.

The Black Ventrue
by L. Shanahan
The Ventrue name has fallen. Vincent Black, became a self-proclaimed Primogen of the Ventrue clan. However, when the Prince's council was investigating the death of Soze and the suspect, Theodore Crane, Mr. Black was not even available for comment or even had the intention of attending that evenings Primogen meeting to discuss matters involving his own clan. The Primogenship is more than just a title, Vincent Black, it's a job. Several new Ventrue made their way into the city last week, and in a tradition so far to be expected from Mr. Black, he assaulted these newcomers with words and unecessary force, then demanded that they help him in his endeavors. Vincent was also on file as calling the Prince derogatory names behind his back...and boasting his invulnerability to the Princes actions...more dangerous waters for Mr. Black I would say.

Chaos in Capital City
by Xavier T. Chase
T. Crane the man of the week. Murderer of Soze. Hero to the weak and stepped upon. Master of the unthinkable. A man who killed Soze. May his name become a legend to everyone in the city from now until eternity. A man who killed the unkillable. A hero to the stepped upon.

The Sacramento Shadow's
KINDRED QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Kamian, If that is your real name. It has come to my attention that you are not the allister that you say. Shall I ask Hannibal about you? I dislike people who snatch others property such as ghouls. Please feel free to come back to the city and then talk to the Prince and I. It should be an enlightening conversation.
-Barbara Moore

VentrueCorp. stocks on the Rise
by J.A. Wellington
VentrueCorp. was pleased to announce that stock prices rose 25% laast week due to internal stregnthening of operations. Despite setbacks such as the loss of two prominant board members, A. Soze and W. Kobyashi, the company is boasting heavy returns across the board. The Londen Board, parent company of Sacramento's VentrueCorp., has release for sale 40,000 shares of it's holdings in the local company. Earnings are reported to be due to the outstanding leadership of the new CEO, A.M. Wolfmann, who assumed the position after Soze was killed in an unfortunate car accident. Wolfmann has opened up the company to newcommers, probably with yet to be seen insetives and bonuses, and expanded the comapny's scope of operations with the opening of the Venice office in Italy, expected to be the first of many overseas offices.

Lhiannan
by Crazie Jane
In the burning times one clan and several bloodlines cease to exist while the Salubri were hunted to near extinction. One of the bloodlines that vanished was the Lhiannan. Evidence suggests that this bloodline was an offshoot of Clan Gangrel. Although the Lhiannan had a special in-clan discipline, there is no account to what it did. The name to is forgotten. What is known is that they were pagan priests of how the Christian viewed pagan priests. It had been documented and I have spoken to a witness of the practices of the Lhiannan. The matriarchal Lhiannan would form blood cults and terrorize mortals before the rise of Rome. Many tales of how bloody the pagan priests were can be attributed to the Lhiannan. In their cults women ruled. It is no surprise that most candidates for the embraced were women. This bloodline did not change much when the Dark Ages arrive. But about that time they were going extinct. When the Renaissance arrived there was no sign of the Lhiannan. Why? With the rise of Christianity, paganism became a target. Inquisitors stalked the land looking for blasphemy and heresy. With their practices were seen by Christian minded as blasphemous and thus they themselves were considered heretics. Which meant they were hunted by powerful mortals. Then there is the fact that they preferred to live in the forest, garou territory. Vampires and werewolves have been at it since the creation of dirt. Thus the bloody practices of the Lhiannan would be more than enough to provoke the werewolves. The Lhiannan was a group of vampires that manipulated mortal society openly and now they are extinct.

My First Impressions
by William McAlester
My arrival to the city was late in the night, so the time that I was able to fist perceive the kindred that would also inhabit this city with me, there was already quite a bit of happenings going on. The first bit of time I spent looking for my family so to speak, and met a few very helpful and knowledgeable kindred in the Ventrue. Their names, sadly, have slipped my mind at this time, but my appreciation still is there. After being properly introduced to several of the populace there was a large uproar with the sudden attack on Prince Recoil via Dot's unused body. Apparently the prince made an enemy out of some Guido that he had a hand in 'whacking'. It looks as if dead men do tell tales. The Ventrue appeared to have had a 'Power Restructuring' to bring forth the 'New Blood' that would help them in the future. This looks a tad odd, as the older leadership is not available to lead those that are still inexperienced. Interesting development indeed. In other news, it appears the loyal assistants of the Prince destroyed a thorn in the Prince's side. The extinguished kindred (Pardon the pun) was summarily subdued to a point a little beyond incapacitation. After such he was put to rest in a body bag quickly converted from a duffel bag, that happened to be drenched in a flammable liquid. Unfortunately for the remains in the bag, someone nearby took up smoking and gave the poor sod a light. Seeing what has happened so quickly in part of one night simply shows the level of intensity for the events to come. There will be many an interesting night ahead in this city, this much I am certain. May the nights keep you safe.

When Wolves Kill
by Sees-the-Truth, Galliard of the Children of Gaia
Moriah of Clan Gangrel was taken by Benjii and Scooby Crotchsniffer after court two weeks ago. This happened because Celestines cursed Wyrm-Bane to his former existence as kindred. The "promise" that Benjii and Scooby referred to was they would kill Moriah at his bequest upon becoming a kindred as he feared he might. So, they came to make good on their promise. Or so they thought. They brought him to a sacred place (that cannot be named by this reporter) to render him "dust". The fight was titanic. Moriah was able to keep the two Garou at a stand-off. Then something happened. Moriah went berserk. The Crotchsniffers moved in to take care of business. The two Garou were just about to make the kill. All three were bloody messes. Something happened. Klaives flashing in the moonlight poised to strike. Lightning from a cloudless sky brought thunder in explosions of sound. Moriah was struck by lightning. After the Garou recovered, no trace was found of Moriah. Not even Ash was left. Then it happened. The forest came alive. Spears of wood shot out from the trees. Grass seemed to be like knives. The ground shot out with nuggets of gold and silver. The Garou escaped into the umbra to find a being enveloping Moriah in the umbra. It told them to leave the gaurdian alone. The Garou were stunned. A lone howl of defeat sounds off in the distance. The spirit took Moriah and was gone into something that looked like space warping about them in a twisting pattern like a whirlpool. The Crotchsniffers returned from the umbra to find that everything was normal as if nothing had happened. An Elder Garou approached them. He tells them that the Gaurdian of the Wyld is now known, but why someone that is encased in the weavers web? There is the mystery folks. What happened to Martin Moriah is a mystery. What is a Gaurdian of the Wyld? The response to that question was meant by, "This could mean anything. For the Wyld is infinite. When you look into the sky and at the wilderness, you see the Wyld. We cannot tell."

New Faces in the Shadows
by Shadowstorm
Purgatory arrived early Saturday night. The power vacuum left in the wake of death last Saturday affected only a few. No senachal to lick Recoils boots. No Xavier to wave his anti-tribu banner all over the place. It was a nice change not listening to Faynts dullard words to bore us into final death. A few Ventrue came to witness Teddy Cranes quick trial. I applaud you Mr. Wolfman on the ablikity to pull an incredible doulbecross like that. The complete and utter elimination of two powerful enemies. It will be a while before the new faces can overcome the shadows and enter the true darkness.
